词汇是英语四级考试的基础，掌握更多的词根知识能帮助我们更好地记忆单词，这里是前缀inter-、intel-、enter-的词源、意思和例词，希望对大家有帮助。　　

　　比较常用的前缀词根只有十几个，词根大多有变形，绝大部分变形的规律是跟着后面的核心字根的首字母双写，另外前缀只记住一两个主要词义就行了，特殊而生僻的变形，初学者可以忽略掉，详细的词根词源及其详细的变形规律不需要掌握那么细致，仅供参考。

　　拉丁前缀inter-来源于拉丁介词inter，意思相当于 between(在…之间) 或 among (在…的中间)。inter-本是原生词缀，它出现在从法语引进的拉丁词中。但是，现在它已经成为英语的派生前缀，可以与不同语源的动词、名词相结合，表示between、mutually、mutual等意思。与动词结合时，inter-是个副词性前缀，不改变词基单词的词性；与名词结合时，它是形容词或介词性前缀。当它作为介词性前缀与名词结合时，可能改变词基的词性，生成形容词。inter-的异体intel-只能作原生词缀，出现在intellect等少数单词中。与前缀inter-形近的前缀有intro、intra 意为“在内，向内”，注意不要混淆。

　　另外，前缀inter-有以下几种变形。

　　1. intel- [在辅音字母I前]

　　intelligent、 intellectual

　　2．enter- (emtr-)[用于法语系统]

　　entertainer、 enterprising、 entrepreneur

　　例词：

　　1.intercept  [inter( =between) +cept( =take)在中间抓住、夺取]

　　vt. seize or stop on the way、 before arrival at the intended place; interrupt an enemy force、 especially enemy aircraft 中途夺取，抓住，抢夺；拦截

　　interception 中途夺取，抓住，抢夺，拦截  interceptor 中途抢夺的人；拦截机

　　ex)tried to Intercept Ms.Barnes before she reached the airport.

　　我设法在巴恩斯女士到达机场前拦住她。

　　2.interrupt  [inter( =between) +rupt( =break)在其间打碎]

　　vt. break the continuity of; cut in; break in upon a person’s action、speech、etc.中断；阻断：妨碍行动、说话等  interruption 中断：妨碍，阻碍  interrupter 阻碍者，妨碍物

　　ex) Regular programming was Interrupted for an important news bulletin.

　　因为要插播一条重要新闻公告，正常的节目播放被中断了。

　　3.intellectual  [intel

　　n. a person with intellectual interests or tastes 有知识的人，知识分子

　　adj. of the intellect; having or showing good reasoning power  知识的；智能的，智力超群的  intellect 智力，理解力；理智；（复数或作为总称时）知识分子，有识之士  intelligence 智力；信息  intelligentsia  知

　　识阶层  intelligent聪明的

　　ex) While bright、I hardly think he qualifies as an in intellectual.

　　4.enterprising  [enter

　　adj. showing enterprise; full of energy and initiative; willing to take risks 事业心强的；进取的；有冒险精神的  enterprise 事业；进取心，冒险心

　　ex) Her enterprising nature gives a high probability for success as a CEO.

　　她进取的性格使她很可能成为一个成功的首席执行官。

　　5.intervene  [inter( =between) +ven( =come)来到其间]

　　vt. in+sth  come between others in time; interfere so as to prevent something or change the result 介入其中，干预，干涉；仲裁  intervention 调停，仲裁；干涉，介入

　　ex)I try not to intervene in the disputes among my children.

　　我尽量不介入孩子之间的争吵。

　　6.intermediary  [inter( =between) +medi( =middle)在其间起到中间作用的]

　　n. go-between、 mediator; any medium、 means、 or agency  中介者，仲裁者、调停人；中间物，媒介物

　　adj. acting as a link between persons and groups; intermediate  中介的，仲裁的：中间的  intermediate（时间、空间、程度等）在中间的；中间物

　　ex)He played a role as Intermediary in ending the Russo-Japanese War.

　　他在结束日俄战争中起到了调解人的作用。

　　7.interrogate  [inter( =between) +rog（=ask）在中间问]

　　vt. put questions to、 especially closely or formally  审问，质问

　　interrogation  审问、质问  interrogator  审问者，质问者  interrogative  表示疑问的；疑问词  interrogatory  审问的，质问的；审问，质问

　　ex) The customs agent Interrogated us for a full five minutes.

　　海关人员整整审问了我们五分钟。

　　8.intercede  [inter ( =between)  +ced  ( =go)走向其间]

　　vi.in+sth; with+sb+for+sb intervene for the purpose of producing agreement;mediate; plead or make a request in behalf of another or others 调停；仲裁：请愿，求情  intercession 仲裁，调停；代人祈祷，请愿

　　ex)We asked the consulate to Intercede when our son was arrested in Panama.

　　儿子在巴拿马被捕的时候，我们向领事馆提出调解请求。

　　9.intersect  [inter( =between) +sect(=cut)在其间截断]

　　v. divide by cutting、 passing or lying across; cut or cross each other  横断：交叉

　　intersection 横断；交叉（点）

　　ex) Take a left where this street Intersects a dirt road in about a mile.

　　往前走一英里，在这条路和一条土路交叉的地方向左转。

　　10.intermittent  [inter( =between) +mit( =send)送向其间]

　　adj. stopping and starting again at intervals 间歇的  intermit 暂停，间断

　　intermission 中止；休息时间；幕间休息  intermittently 间歇地，断断续续地

　　ex) Our smoke alarm makes an irritating Intermittent beep that won’t stop.

　　我们家的烟雾报警器不时发出没完没了的烦人的报警声。[page]

　　11.interdict  [inter(=between 在...之间);dict(=to speak 说)→]

　　v. prohibit or forbid 禁止，制止

　　ex)He was interdicted from going abroad. 他被禁止出国。

　　interdiction  n.禁止；制止

　　interdictory  adj. 禁止的，制止的

　　12.interest  [inter(=between 在...之间);est(=to be 存在)→"be concerned with or have a share in 与...有关，在...有一份"→]

　　n.关心，兴趣；利益

　　ex)He has an interest in sports. 他对运动感兴趣。

　　vt. 使发生兴趣

　　ex)This new method will certainly interest you. 这新方法肯定会引起你的兴趣。

　　13.interfere  [inter(=between 在...之间);fere(=to strike) → 从中间打入]

　　v. 干预；干涉

　　ex)The police interfered to stop the riot. 警察干预制止骚乱。

　　interference  n. 干涉，干预；妨碍，打扰

　　14.interpose  [inter(=between 在...之间);pos(=to place 放置)、-e 后缀→放在当中]

　　v. 插入

　　ex)He interposed his hand between my eyes and the light. 他将手放在我眼前挡住灯光。

　　15.interchange  [inter(=nutually 相互地);change v. 改变→ 相互之间变换]

　　v. 交换，互换

　　ex)The two girls exchanged hats. 两个女孩交换帽子。

　　16.interconnect  [inter(=nutually 相互地);connect v.联系)→]

　　v.使互相联系；使互相结合

　　ex)The two things are closely interconnected. 这两个事物紧密地联系在一起的。

　　17.intercity  [inter(=nutually 相互地);city n.城市 →]

　　adj.城市间的，市际的

　　ex)Intercity automobile traffic develops rapidly these years. 近年城市间的汽车交通发展很快。

　　18.international  [inter(=between 在...之间);nation 国家;-al 形容词后缀→]

　　adj. 国际的，世界的

　　ex)A treaty is an international agreement. （国家间的）条约是一种国际性的协议。

　　19.interview  [inter(=nutually 相互地);view n. 看见→]

　　n. 会见，会谈

　　ex)Father had an interview with the teacher about my study. 父亲会老师谈我学习的事情。

　　20.interflow  [inter(=nutually 相互地);flow n. 流动→]

　　n. 交流，互通

　　ex)We urge the interflow of commodities between the urban and rural areas. 我们鼓励城乡的商品交流。
