　　★ temptation

　　n.引诱，诱惑;诱惑物

　　【例句】Given all this, it is a credit to Mr. Obama that he has resisted the temptation to follow the popular mood and turn his focus entirely inward.考虑到这些情况，奥巴马抵制了顺应潮流的诱惑，没有将重心全部转移到国内，这是值得嘉许的。

　　【构词】tempt(诱惑)+a+-ion(名词后缀)

　　a. (over)占优势的;主要的，突出的

　　【例句】Unprofitable ones will occupy a predominant position in the medical service system.非营利性医疗机构将在医疗服务体系中占主导地位。

　　【构词】pre-(先，前)+dominant(统治的)→先占统治地位的→占优势的

　　【同义替换】preeminent, protruding, dominant, prevailing

　　【派生】predominance n.(力量、数量等的)优势 predominantly ad.大多;主要地
