在阅读考研英语真题的文章时，我们发现会有很多比较容易混淆的短语结构，比如no more than与no more…than，more than与more…than, less than与less…than，等等，对于这些结构，如果辨析不清的话，直接影响到我们对于文章的理解及做题的准确度。那么，针对这种情况，文都考研高端老师带着大家一起对这些重点词组逐一进行辨析。
今天，我们重点来学习两组结构。
(一)no more than与no more … than
No more than=nothing more than=only 仅仅;不过
如：Abraham Lincoln's whole school education added up to no more than one year.
no more... than “不是……，也不是……”或“与……同样不”
表示两者都否定，但说话人往往着重否定前面的一个分句，其作用相当于“ neither … nor ”。
如： Marry is no more diligent than Tom. = Neither Mary nor Tom is diligent.
I am no more a scientist than a mathematician.
(二) not so much…as与not so…as
二者区别： 从形式上看not so…as…与not so much…as…的结构基本相同,但两者在意义上和用法上却存在着很大的差别。
1. 在意义上：
not so much…as…结构表示选择比较, 常常译为“与其说……不如说……”
He is not so much a writer as a reporter.
而not so …as…结构表示否定的同级比较。常常译为“不像……那样……”。
It is not so hot in Beijing as in Wuhan.
He is not so tall as you.他没有你那样高。
2. 在用法上：
not so much…as…结构中，so不能换作as ,much必须紧跟在so后面,且不能省略, much和as后面是两个相互平行的结构, 比如名词、形容词。
He was not so much angry as disappointed.
而not so …as中，so可变成as，so后可跟形容词、副词原级，不跟名词。
Today the classroom is not so clean as usual.
We should say Jimmy is not so much a writer as a reporter.
